Men's Basketball Scrimmage Northern Iowa in Tight Battle

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - The University of Dubuque scrimmged the University of Northern Iowa and lost a hard fought battle by a slim 67-75 margin. The Spartans held a halftime lead 36-34 over the Panthers. UD led by as many as 11 points with 13 minutes left of the game. The Spartans would lose starters Avery Butler and Michael Williams after the pair fouled out in the final minute. 

Marcus McDaniel finished with 13 points and six rebounds. Butler and Williams would both end the night early with 10 points. UNI committed 10 fouls while UD was called for 26 in the loss. UNI would take advantage at their time at the free throw line as they sank 28-37 while UD made 8-9 attempts. Rebounding was about equal with UNI holding a 35-34 advantage.

The Spartans made 23-62 attempts from the field (37.1%), 13-34 three point shots (38.2%), 8-9 at the free throw line (88.9%).

UD will next play at the Daytona Beach Shootout in Daytona Beach, Fla. on Dec. 18-19.
