Men's Lacrosse Topped by Conference Leader

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The University of Dubuque men's lacrosse team (5-9 overall, 1-3 in CCIW) played the conference best team on Wednesday and lost 9-30 to Illinois Wesleyan University (12-1 overall and 4-0 in CCIW).

UD's Tanner Weis led the Spartans offense with four goals in five shots. Other Spartan scorers included: Michael Jango, Zach Schmitt, Gavin Hughes, Dominic Mulcahy, and Joey Maniaci. The Spartans finished with 25 shots and 25 ground balls. Andre Wagner led with five ground balls. The Spartans split goalies with Ryan Gartner making 11 saves in 30 minutes of play as teammate Samuel Kopecky stopped seven in 30 minutes of action.

The Spartans were 8-42 in face-offs, 16-29 in clears, and 0-2 in extra man opportunities.

The Spartans continue play in the CCIW when they host the Carthage College Red Men on Saturday, April 20 at 1 p.m. on Oyen Field. The Spartans will host North Central on April 24 at 6 p.m. for their final home game.
