Men's Soccer Downed By #10 North Park

DUBUQUE, Iowa – The University of Dubuque men’s soccer team put up a spirited effort against the 10th ranked North Park Vikings, but fell came up just short on Wednesday night, losing 1-0.

How It Happened
-North Park was the first team to strike on the night, after a Vikings pass deflected off a Spartan, it went right to another Viking who was able to finish, putting the Spartans behind 1-0.
-UD controlled the beginning portion of the second half, getting two corner kicks and firing three of their four shots in the first 22 minutes of the second half.
-The Spartans had five corner kicks in the contest and had a great look on a corner in 56th minute but it was punched out by the Viking goalkeeper.
-One, if not the best Spartan chance of the night took place in the 85th minute when a cross into the box found the head of a leaping Jake Persenico but the ball sailed just inches over the crossbar.
-The Vikings outshot the Spartans by a 16 to seven margin on Wednesday night.
