How It Happened
-Roody Joinvil and Jake Persenico came out firing for the Spartans, taking the first two shots of the game for either team in the opening five minutes.
-The Spartan offensive attack was relentless in the first half but just could not break through. UD would outshoot Coe, 9-4 in the first half but despite on the shots neither team was able to score in the first half.
-The scoreless first half didn’t scare away the Spartan attack in the second half as they kept pounding away, getting off eight shots in the opening 12 minutes of the second half. Out of those eight, one hit the crossbar, one hit the post and two were blocked on good looks.
-Coe committed a foul in the box in the 59th minute and UD made them pay as Dominik Chece converted on the penalty to finally give UD a 1-0 lead.
-UD continued to attack the Kohawks after the penalty kick but still could not find the back of the net for an insurance goal despite taking eight more shots.
-The Spartans finished the contest with a staggering 25 shots taken, seven of which were on goal. Meanwhile the Kohawks could only manage seven shots and one on goal when the Spartans were not busy taking their shots.
