Miranda Leads A-R-C Women's Golf Championships Opening Weekend

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - Central College is your leader after 36 holes at the 2018 American Rivers Conference Women's Golf Championship. The Dutch, who put up a second round score of 321 (327-321-648) hold a one stroke lead over second-place University of Dubuque (327-322-649).

Luther (335-338-673) and Wartburg (336-337-673) sit tied for third, 25 strokes off the lead. Simpson maintained their fifth-place position going 347-334-681. After two rounds of play, team positions six through nine remain the same. Buena Vista holds sixth-place (376-358-734), followed by Loras in seventh (382-379-761), Nebraska Wesleyan in eighth (401-383-784), and Coe in ninth (450-444-894). 

Dubuque sophomore, Daniela Miranda continues to see her name atop the leaderboard after going 74-80 for a two round total of 154. Miranda's lead was cut from three to one with the consistent play of Central's Emily Opsal and Wartburg's Brooke Klostermann, who stand tied for second. Opsal went 78-77-155 (+11) while Klostermann carded two round scores of 77-78 for a 155 (+11). Brittany Coppess of Central turned in a low-round score of 76 to put herself in sole possession of fourth (80-76-156). Dubuque's Megan Gille went 80-77-157 (+13) to position herself into fifth-place. Lexie Patton of Central made the jump from 13th to sixth after turning in a score of 78 in round two (86-78-164). With a two round total of 165 (82-83) Hannah Gordon of Simpson is in seventh, followed by a trio of players tied for eighth. The three players knotted with two round totals of 167 are Wartburg's Mackenzie Roberts (84-83-167) and Luther teammates Aimee Hodges (81-86-167) and Morgan Kranz (81-86-167).

The final 36 holes will take place October 6-7 at Oneota Golf & CC in Decorah, Iowa. Rounds three and four will begin at 10:00 am. Luther College is the host of this year's championship.
