Spartan Wrestlers Get Dual Road Win

Dec 1, 2018

LINCOLN, Neb. - The University of Dubuque wrestling team earned their first American Rivers Conference win of the season as they took down Nebraska Wesleyan 23-20 on Saturday afternoon in Lincoln.

The dual did not get off to a great start for the Spartans as the Prairie Wolves won the first two matches at 125 and 133 to jump out to an early 8-0 lead. Nick Meyer answered the bell for the Spartans at 141, getting a pin right before the final horn to bring the Spartans within two. Greg Krulas gave UD more bonus points as he dominated his opponent at 149 to a tech fall at 17-0.

After NWU pulled even at 11 all at the midway point, the Spartan wrestlers took over. Zarik Anderson made quick work of Dominick Moser, pinning him in 2:07 at 165. The freshman Malik Milazzo picked up a decision at 174 to put UD ahead 20-11. A NWU win at 184 to bring it to 20-14 gave the Prairie Wolves some life but Ethan Cain at 197 ended that as he would go on to defeat Ben Lodema, 6-2, to seal the match for UD and allowing them to forfeit at 285.
