Box Score

DUBUQUE, Iowa – After the offense was stifled on Saturday night, the University of Dubuque women’s soccer team exploded on Monday night for six goals in route to a 6-3 win over Monmouth College.

Dubuque, Univ. of 6, Monmouth 3

How It Happened
-After not recording a shot on goal on Saturday, the Spartans broke that drought early in the contest, putting one on net in the third minute.
-The Spartans scored first when Lauren Cangelosi sent a cross into the box from the right side to find McKenna Young who put it into the open net in just the eight minute
-UD would push their 2-0 right before halftime when Alexis Turner found Erica Miller, both of which came off the bench, on a short pass outside the 18 and Miller would fire a rocket into the goal.
-The Spartans began the second half much like the first, scoring in the seventh minute of the half after Natalie Dienstbach sent a long pass from the left side of the field to Alexa Martin on the right side of the field. Martin, with no one around her, gathered and took a couple dribbles before sending a shot from just outside the 18 for the Spartans third goal of the night.
-The Fighting Scots would finally get on the board in the 57th minute but UD wasted little time in responding. Dienstbach once against sent a long pass, this time finding Lauren Cangelosi who would score the Spartans third goal outside the 18 to push the lead to 4-1.
-The scoring frenzy continued when Monmouth would score just a minute and half after Cangelosi’s goal but Natalie Dienstbach continued to make her presence felt.  Isabelle Robinson had the ball and was tight roping the goal line and found a crashing Dienstbach who converted for the goal and her third point of the night.
-Amanda Chlebek capped off the huge scoring night for the Spartans when she played a ball right off of her body and into the net off of a Cangelosi free kick.
