Spartans Football Overpower Norse at Home

DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque football captured their first home victory of the season on Saturday after improving to 4-2 on the season and 3-1 in American Rivers Conference action with a 42-19 victory over the Luther College Norse on Chalmers Field. UD finished with 452 yards of offense including 205 yards on the ground.
Maurece Herrion led the ground attack with four rushing touchdowns and ending the afternoon with 129 rushing yards in just 17 carries. Bruno Prosper Kanam carried the ball 12 times for 70 yards and Keyshawn Carr touched the ball for the first time in 2018 and gained 31 yards on seven carries.
Sean Duffy led the air assault finishing 14-24 for 247 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Emanuel Jenkins grabbed six passes for 53 yards and a touchdown. A.J. Hunter led all receivers with five catches for 133 yards and a touchdown.
UD punted just three times and Andy Vujnovich finished with 109 yards (36.3 average) and placed two inside the 20 yard line to extend his season mark to 11 punts inside the 20 and four beyond 50 yards with longest being 55 yards.
Logan Benter led with seven tackles and Doug Gates grabbed six tackles with two and a half for losses. UD's defense held the Norse to 1-11 third down conversions.
The Spartans have next week off before returning to the road to play the Buena Vista University Beavers in Storm Lake, Iowa on Oct. 20 at 1 p.m.
