Spartans Lose at Wartburg 65-82

WAVERLY, Iowa - The University of Dubuque men's basketball team trailed the host Knights by seven at halftime 36-43. Wartburg would extend that lead after out scoring the Spartans in the final 20 minutes 39-29 to capture the American Rivers Conference tilt 82-65. 

Saturday began the tough seven day schedule at Wartburg (Jan. 19), at Nebraska Wesleyan (Jan. 21) at home vs. Luther (Jan. 23) and at Simpson (Jan. 26).

Marcus McDaniel led Spartans with 26 points after sinking 7-15 shots from the field. Josh Evans came off the bench to add in 12 points and three steals. Peter Ragen finished with 10 points, but would exit early after being called for a flagrant foul and ejected late in the game.

UD shot 22-52 from the field (42.3%), but couldn't cool down the hot shooting Knights on their home court who sank 28-53 from the field (52.8%) and 10-19 from outside (52.6%). Both squads struggled at the free throw line, UD 14-23 and the Knights 16-26.
