Tickets Available for University of Dubuque’s Christmas at Heritage Center

DUBUQUE, Iowa – University of Dubuque will present its sixth annual Christmas at Heritage CenteronFriday, Nov. 30, at 7:30 p.m. in John and Alice Butler Hall. This year’s celebration is titled Break Forth, O Beauteous Light: An Evening of Lessons and Carols.

Christmas at Heritage Center will feature the talents of the UD Concert Choir, UD Chamber Singers, and UD Women’s Choir, all directed by Kristen Eby, assistant professor of music, as well as the Ken Kilian Brass Ensemble from Platteville, Wisconsin. UD President Jeffrey F. Bullock will narrate the evening. 

Titled Break Forth, O Beauteous Light: An Evening of Lessons and Carols, the concert will follow the traditional readings heard at the Christmas Eve service at King’s College in Cambridge, England. The narrative correlates directly with choral texts and instrumental pieces chosen to tell the story of Christ’s birth in a seamless performance. Selections will include new arrangements of holiday favorites such as “O Holy Night,” “Mary, Did You Know,” and “We Three Kings.”

A post-show reception with complimentary refreshments and holiday favorites played by the Ken Killian Brass Ensemble will follow the performance.

Tickets for Christmas at Heritage Center can be purchased Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Farber Box Office, Heritage Center, University of Dubuque, 2255 Bennett Street; by phone at 563.585.SHOW; or online at www.dbq.edu/heritagecenter.  Free tickets reserved in advance but still remaining at Will Call are subject to release 15 minutes prior to the performance.

Patrons are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance. New for 2018-2019, all tickets increase by $5.00 beginning at midnight the day of performances.

Christmas at Heritage Center will be broadcast on KDTH (AM 1370) at 9:00 p.m. Christmas Eve and 1:00 p.m. Christmas Day.

In the case of inclement weather, the concert snow date is Saturday, Dec. 1, at 2:00 p.m.
