Track and Field Heading to 110th Annual Drake Relays

DES MOINES, Iowa – The University of Dubuque track and field teams have qualified for 11 events at the 2019 Drake Relays which takes place Wednesday, April 24th through Saturday, April 27th.
Alec Bass will be the first Spartan to compete at the 110th Annual Drake Relays on Thursday night when he competes in the distance carnival and the 10,000 meter run. Blaze Murfin will compete in his first of three events right away on Friday morning in the men’s shot put. Murfin will then be off until Saturday morning when he goes in discus and hammer throw back-to-back at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., respectively.
Both the women’s and men’s 4x100 relay teams will hit the track in the prelims early on Friday afternoon before the men’s sprint medley team wraps up the day on Friday at 7:19 p.m.
Saturday has the potential to be a full slate for the Spartans with a chance at 10 events based on Friday’s preliminary results. The men’s distance medley gets the day going bright and early at 8:45 a.m., almost at the same time as Rebecca Burmahl hits the ring for the women’s hammer.
The rest of the track and field team’s will also be in Des Moines at the Grandview Vikings Classic.
