Volleyball Stopped by Storm on the Road

INDIANOLA, Iowa - The University of Dubuque volleyball was looking to hold on to at least a share of a lead in the Iowa Conference. The host Simpson College Storm would play well at home and capture the American Rivers Conference tilt 3-1 over the Spartans. Set scores were 18-25, 26-24, 19-25, 24-26. 

The Spartans finished with a chilly .078 hitting percentage, well under the team's .183 the Spartans are averaging in 2018. Rylee Andresen led with 15 kills trailed by Kara Wright who finished with 14. Kate Messino had 35 set assists and Jenna Runde led UD with 24 defensive digs and three service aces.

With the American Rivers Conference regular season winding down, after Friday the standings are:

2. University of Dubuque 4-2
    Buena Vista 4-2
    Luther 4-2
5. Loras 3-3
    Coe 3-3
7. Simpson 2-5
8. Central 1-5
    Nebraska Wesleyan 1-5

UD continues on Saturday in league action when they face the Central College Dutch at 2 p.m. in Pella.
