Women's Golf Win Luther Invitational by Seven Strokes

DECORAH, Iowa - The University of Dubuque women's golf team won their first title in school history on Sunday by shooting a two day total of 655 in the Luther College Invitational. UD's Megan Gille won the tie break to claim medlaist honors after firing a score of 158. Daniela Miranda placed fourth with a round of 160 and Madison Bowers in eighth place with a score of 168. The Spartans led by 11 strokes after play on day one and fought off the rally by trailing teams for the title.
"Very proud of this team, they played well down the stretch with a good Wartburg team trying to catch them," stated head coach Dustin Bierman. "They have worked hard for this and have been knocking on the door the past couple weeks, and it's nice to finish it off. Also congrats to freshmen Megan Gille on winning the individual title today for the Spartans."
UD will be battling in the American Rivers Conference Championships played at Pheasant Ridge Golf Course in Waterloo, Iowa on Sept. 29-30 and finishing up at Oneota Golf and Country Club in Decorah, Iowa on Oct. 6-7.
