Women's Soccer Five Game Win Streak Snapped

DUBUQUE, Iowa – The 25th ranked University of Dubuque women’s soccer team was slowed down on Saturday night by Loras College, falling to the Duhawks, 2-0 at Oyen Field.

How It Happened
-The Duhawks had the first four shots on goal for either team on the night. The best of those opportunities came in the 18th minute when a ball got over UD goalie, Victoria Roethler’s head and looked to be heading into the net but Carissa Brown swooped in out of nowhere to clear it out.
-Loras thought they had the first goal of the game in the 33rd minute but play was called back due to an injured Loras player to keep the game scoreless.
-We went into halftime scoreless, with Loras outshooting UD 7-5 and 4-0 on goal.
-The Duhawks were the first team to break through in the scoring column, getting the first goal of the game in the 53rd minute on a bender from the left side of the box and into the right side of the net.
-Loras pushed their lead to 2-0 shortly after in the 58th minute off of a free kick from about 30 yards out.
-The Spartans were close to getting several runouts but the Loras defense was able to cut the UD attack off.
-UD fired off five shots in the contest but none on goal.
