Scholarships
Nursing Scholarships

Scholarships are available to students once they are enrolled in the Nursing major. Students must be in good standing in all current nursing courses in order to be eligible for consideration. When selecting scholarships recipients, nursing faculty consider the following as they relate to leadership, compassion and professional promise:

1. Professional Behavior - Students are role models to other students including but not limited to: class preparation, attendance, and demeanor.

2. Teamwork - Students are involved in an organization in the community or on the UD campus that promotes and engages the student in group projects or activities.

3. Leadership - Students are involved in and/or act as officers in organizations on the UD campus or in the community.

4. Direct patient-care work experience - Students are currently working in a health care facility and involved in direct patient care.

MONROE ROSENTHAL NURSING AWARD:

This award recognizes an outstanding junior in the Nursing program, selected by the Nursing faculty. The recipient must maintain a minimum 3.25 grade point average and exhibit leadership skills and the compassion necessary to become an excellent nurse.

SHANE FREDERICK MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP:

This scholarship is awarded to a male Nursing student who maintains a 3.0 grade point average and demonstrates leadership skills and dedication to the Nursing profession.

FINLEY SCHOLARSHIPS:

Scholarship is for junior or senior students (next fall status); minimum GPA of 3.0; based on one or more of the following: financial need, academic merit, professional promise, leadership skills.

SONYA (PARROT) SMITH SCHOLARSHIP:

Requirements are minimum GPA of 3.0, junior or senior status and leadership skills and dedication to the Nursing profession. It can be renewed to the same student if they qualify.
