Curriculum
The HPER Department offers undergraduate preparation programs for individuals seeking a career in Health, Wellness, Physical Education and Recreation. The University of Dubuque is fully accredited by the Iowa Department of Education to offer a preparation program in Physical Education (K-6, 7-12), Health (K-6, 7-12) and Coaching (K-12). The University of Dubuque also offers preparation for a degree in Health, Wellness & Recreation. As part of the coursework contained within this major is the potential to sit for nationally recognized certifications (i.e. ACSM, ARC, NSCA, CHES). Information on specific coursework can be found in the present HPER Catalog in the Curriculum section. The Health, Physical Education & Recreation (HPER) Department offers majors in two tracks (Teaching and Professional) and activity classes.
Admission and Retention Admission to an HPER major occurs when the student declares the major on the Plan of Study after requesting an HPER advisor. To continue study in an HPER major the student must:
