TUESDAY, APRIL 23, 2013:
9:00 a.m. Honors Convocation
University of Dubuque - Heritage Center/Butler Hall (University’s new Performing Arts, Worship and Campus Center) - College classes are canceled for this event.
At 8:30 a.m. faculty are to assemble in the Heritage Center
Academic regalia required – includes cap, gown, and hood.
3:30 p.m. The Last Lecture presented by retiring Business Professor Sam Deaver

5:00 p.m. College Baccalaureate Service
University of Dubuque Heritage Center/Butler Hall (University’s new Performing Arts, Worship and Campus Center)
Baccalaureate, a UD tradition, is a worship service that allows us to say farewell to our graduating seniors, to celebrate their accomplishments, to give thanks for those who have supported them in reaching this milestone, and to commission graduates for service to church and world.
At 4:45 p.m. faculty are to assemble in the Heritage Center
Academic regalia required – gown and hood only (no caps).
6:30 p.m. Undergraduate Senior Banquet
Grand River Center, 500 Bell St.
Reservations are required, and additional information will be forthcoming from the Student Life Office.
Each graduate is invited to attend at no charge; faculty diners are guests of the Senior Class.
SATURDAY, MAY 18, 2013:
11:30 a.m. Commencement doors open at the Chlapaty Recreation & Wellness Center located at Bennett and McCormick Streets. Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis – non-ticketed.
12:00 p.m. All undergraduate and graduate students assemble in McCormick Gym with full Commencement apparel on.
12:15 p.m. Faculty, administrators, and platform party assemble in McCormick Gym.
Academic regalia required – includes cap, gown and hood.
12:50 p.m. Procession is led by the bagpiper through the Stoltz-Myers Plaza, down Grace Street, crossing to McCormick Street, and to the North entrance of the Chlapaty Recreation and Wellness Center.
If we experience inclement weather on Commencement day, we will not follow the above processional route. An inclement weather decision will be made on Friday, May 17, at 12:00 noon and communicated to all concerned via U.D. websites and e-mail correspondence to students, faculty and staff.
1:00 p.m. Commencement Ceremony begins in the Chlapaty Recreation and Wellness Center.
2:45 p.m. Reception honoring all college graduates and their guests will be held immediately following the ceremony in the tented area outside the Chlapaty Center.
Immediately Rented academic apparel must be returned to the designated “Greeter/Service Desk”
Following station on the upper level of the Chlapaty Center approximately one hour after the
Ceremony ceremony. Returns will not be accepted after this time unless special arrangements are made in advance with the Babka Bookstore staff.

UNDERGRADUATE STUDENT COMMENCEMENT APPAREL AND PICK UP
Beginning April 22 through May 17, students may stop into the lower level of the Babka Bookstore to pick up their cap, gown and tassel for Commencement Ceremonies.
GRADUATE STUDENT COMMENCEMENT APPAREL AND PICK UP
Beginning May 1 through May 17, students may stop into the lower level of the Babka Bookstore to pick up their cap, gown and tassel rental for Commencement Ceremonies.
Beginning now, the Babka Bookstore will be selling “generic” invitations for $1.50 each or in packs of 10 for $15.00.

1) Type in University of Dubuque, then select GO.
2) Click on Class Rings to the left and check out the styles. Order if you wish.
3) Shop the website until you find your selection and go from there.

BABKA BOOK STORE HOURS
Monday and Thursday 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.; Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
-Each graduate will receive a diploma cover from the President at Commencement. May 2013 graduates who have met all degree requirements will receive their diploma by mail in June.
-Any student who has not met their academic requirements for graduation will have their diploma held in the Registrar’s Office until such time as all degree requirements are met.
-If a student has an outstanding college account balance, their diploma will be held in the Registrar’s Office until their account is cleared by the Student Accounts Office.
General parking is available on the University of Dubuque campus in the following locations and on adjacent streets.
-Chlapaty Center parking lot at Bennett and McCormick Streets
-Finley lot at Finley & West Streets
-University Park Drive lot at Bennett Street and University Park Drive
-Pearl Street lot adjacent to the corner of Pearl and McCormick Streets
-Dunlap Technology Center lot on McCormick Street
-Lot across from Hardees at the corner of McCormick Street and University Avenue
-Severance lot at Grace and Algona Streets
-Aitchison lots at Grace and Auburn Streets
Students and guests are reminded not to park in roped off or posted “NO PARKING” areas. For people having to park distances away, “Trolleys of Dubuque” will be circulating the adjacent streets providing shuttle service to the Chlapaty Center. In the likely event that our regular University parking lots fill quickly during Commencement, we have arranged with five local groups to assist with overflow parking needs. Trolleys will transport guests continuously from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Transport will be from the following locations to campus and back.
-Westminster Presbyterian Church at 2155 University Avenue
-Holy Trinity Lutheran Church at 1755 Delhi Street
-New Life Church at 419 N. Grandview Avenue
-St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in the upper level parking lot behind the
School at 60 S. Algona St. (closest entry is S. Algona/Lombard St. access)
-George Washington Middle School at 51 N. Grandview Avenue (closest entry is
Lombard Street access)
SPECIAL NEEDS PARKING/SEATING
Please look for the “SPECIAL NEEDS RESERVED PARKING” signs outside the West Entrances (lower level) of the Chlapaty Center. A reserved seating section will also be available to accommodate Commencement guests who have special needs. For assistance with special needs, please alert an usher.
A sign language interpreter has also been contracted to provide “signing” services at the ceremony.
Jolesch Photography will take a picture of each student receiving his/her diploma cover and a second
pose with the diploma and flag background after exiting the stage as well as pictures before and after the ceremony. Jolesch Photography has created a custom website for the University of Dubuque and it can be accessed atwww.jolesch.com/dbq
For those traveling to Dubuque and planning to stay overnight, we recommend that you call early to
