Blades Hall - 1982

Blades Hall was the gift of University of Dubuque alumna. Alta Jane Blades. She devoted her life to teaching in the Dubuque public schools, primarily at Lincoln School. Board member Wayne Norman was her student. Through his good offices, Walter F. Peterson, the University of Dubuque's President, was introduced to Miss Blades, who ultimately designated her entire estate to her beloved Alma Mater. This beautiful and versatile hall incorporates many components of the earlier Steffens Hall, thus maintaining historical and achitectural ties with the past. Steffens Arcade continues to use the old Hall's elements to form an attractive and inviting setting for Blades Hall and Alumni Hall,
