The University of Dubuque softball team renovated the softball field in the summer of 2012 and is the newest in the Iowa Conference. The Spartans added brick dugouts, permanent seating (seats are from the old Comiskey Park in Chicago), and a new scoreboard.

The Spartans defeated ranked teams the past three seasons and have become one of the toughest teams to beat under Head Coach Wendi Wipperfurth. UD has been among the leaders in home runs in recent years. Each spring the team travels south over spring break to face competition from teams at colleges across the United States.
