On behalf of the Dining Services Staff, we welcome you to the University of Dubuque campus! Expect an exciting year of student activities, leadership opportunities, and classes that will both challenge and change you. And expect our staff to be there to make your academic experience even more enjoyable. With a variety of dining options, menu alternatives and freindly faces, we hope to offer you a quality dining service program. Feel free to use this as your personal guide for what we can offer.
All students living in the University of Dubuque's residence halls must participate in a Block Meal Plan. Each plan includes an unlimited number of seconds, with the exception of steak or similar premium entrees. University of Dubuque's dining options include the following plans for you to choose from:
- 280 Block Plan - Entitles you to 280 meals per semester
- 200 Block Plan - Entitles you to 200 meals per semester
- 150 Block Plan - Entitles you to 150 meals per semester
Block Plans are designed so you can choose when to use your meals throughout the semester. You may choose to eat 7 meals one week and 19 the next, it's up to you. Meals are to be used by the card holder only and may not be used to obtain meals for a guest. Meals may be utilized in either the Dining Hall or the Snack Bar.
Salad, ice cream, deli, hot foods, pizza... At AmeriServe we guarantee your appetite will discover more delicious options than you could ever attempt to satisfy. That's because we believe the best way to help you maintain a healthy lifestyle is by providing you with a wide array of fresh meats, vegetables, fruits, breads and dairy products to choose from. After all, that's what a well-balanced diet is all about! And remember, suggestions are ALWAYS welcome! We know how stressful campus life can be, especially after those long, sleepless nights with either textbooks or friends. This makes maintaining a healthy diet even more important. Which is why we created our HealthWorks Select program. All HWS items are guaranteed to be low in fat and healthy. Simply look for the HWS logo and eat with the confidence that you are doing something GOOD for your body!

Breakfast: (M-F) 7:30 a.m.-9:00 a.m.
Lunch: (M-F) 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.
Dinner: (Sat-Sun) 5:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m.
Sat/Sun. Brunch: 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
Our Value Exchange program allows you to use your student ID at the Underground Snack Bar. You will find meal exchange options and dining hours posted directly at the snack bar. This option is available Monday through Friday only.
Shaking Things Up: Sack Lunches & Sick Trays
No time to eat? Arrangements for a sack lunch due to class or work conflicts may be made in advance through the Director of Dining Services. And for those days when you are feeling down, sick trays are available. Just let us know and we will have one ready for a friend to pick up for you.
If you have special dietary instructions from your doctor, please let us know! We will be happy to create a special diet that meets your doctor's requirements.
Changing the Pace
To keep life interesting, we offer weekly special events. One of these specials each month will be a theme night with decorations, a themed menu, music, and fun. Possible specials would feature ethnic foods like Italian or Mexican, regional foods like seafood or BBQ, or holiday foods like turkey and pumpkin pie. These specials do not include our Premium Nights, which feature steak or other premium entrees.
Have a friend or family member visiting who isn't on a meal plan? You are more than welcome to enjoy a meal with them in the dining hall. Guest prices are as follows:
Why can't I take food and drink out of the dining room?
Removal of food, beverages, utensils, tumblers, and china are not permitted out of the dining room without the permission of the Dining Services Director. You are welcome to eat and drink as much as you want while in the dining room, but must keep it within this area. Certain policies and procedures must be followed to maintain a cost-effective and efficient dining program.
Why must I show my I.D. card when I come into the dining room to eat?
Meal cards must be presented to the cashier when you want to eat a meal. Meal cards are non-transferable. These procedures are in place to keep a quality cost-effective program that is maintained for your dining pleasure.
What do I do when I lose my Meal Card/I.D.?
Report lost or stolen cards/I.D. to the Security Office located in Smith Hall. You must replace your meal card/I.D. at the Security Office. You must have/present your valid I.D in order to use your meal plan.
