The Financial Aid Application Process
The University of Dubuque processes financial aid on-line and the Financial Aid Award Notification system will allow students to accept, decline, or change awards on-line via the Internet. Students will have the capability to process their award letter and loans all on-line, at anytime of the day, from any computer with Internet access.

Steps in Filing for Financial Aid
  1. File the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) after January 1, 2008. Our federal code is 001891.
  2. Submit any additional documents requested by the Office of Student Financial Planning (usually if you were selected for a process called verification).
  3. Watch for Email announcements for your Financial Aid Award Notification beginning the first week in March (your UD assigned email will be used).
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions for completion of the on-line awarding process.

If you did not receive either a Renewal FAFSA or a PIN in the mail, you can apply for a PIN online at http://www.pin.ed.gov then file the FAFSA electronically anytime after January 1 at www.fafsa.ed.gov . If you are a dependent student, and are required to supply parent information, a parent can also apply for a PIN to be used as an electronic signature when filing. This will expedite processing since no signature page is required to be mailed. Allow approximately 3 days to receive a PIN via email.

Make sure to release your FAFSA information to the University of Dubuque (code 001891) in the Please tell us which schools should receive your information section.

When you receive the notification either via email or in the mail as a result of filing the FAFSA, we will begin your financial aid award process for next year. If you have any questions, please call our office at (563) 589-3170.

Documents you will need to complete the FAFSA include your and your parents (if applicable) 2007 federal 1040 tax returns. The University of Dubuques priority filing deadline is April 1. For eligible Iowa residents, the Iowa Tuition Grant deadline is July 1 and the FAFSA must have been received at the processing center by that date.
