Federal Loans.
A Federal Stafford Loan is a variable interest rate loan, capped at 8.25% made by banks/lenders to students. Annual limits are based on cost of attendance and vary in amount. The Subsidized Stafford loans are need-based with interest paid by the federal government while the student is enrolled at least half-time. Full-time enrollment for graduate study is considered 9 credits hours per semester. Annual maximum is $8,500. The Unsubsidized Stafford loans are based on cost of attendance less any other financial aid. Annual limits are based on cost of attendance and vary in amount with the maximum set at $10,000 at the graduate level. The student has the option to pay the interest while in school or allow it to accrue. A Perkins Loan is a low interest, need-based loan for the neediest students on campus. The loan fund is administered by the University of Dubuque, with limited funds available. The maximum annual award is $4,000. Seminary Graduate Students University of Dubuque Theological Seminary grants (UDTS Grants) are need based awards made to full-time seminary students. Awards vary based on denomination and need, based on the FAFSA information. Outside Financial Resources for Theological Students Catalog VI provides sources of outside financial aid for seminary students. The Catalog is produced by the Office of Financial Aid for Studies Program Team, National Ministries Division, Presbyterian Church (USA) and The Association of Theological Schools In the United States and Canada, Office of Student Information Resources.
