A Federal Stafford Loan is a fixed interest rate loan, currently at 6.80% made by banks/lenders to students. Annual limits are based on cost of attendance and vary in amount.

The Subsidized Stafford loans are need-based with interest paid by the federal government while the student is enrolled at least half-time. Full-time enrollment for graduate study is considered 9 credits hours per semester. Annual maximum is $8,500.

The Unsubsidized Stafford loans are based on cost of attendance less any other financial aid.
