Assistant Professor Generalist with Strength in Creative Writing
The University of Dubuque invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in the Department of English, beginning in August, 2010. The department seeks a generalist with ability to teach creative writing; desirable secondary specializations include the literature of women, environmental literature, poetry, composition and rhetoric, and linguistics. Teaching load of four courses per semester includes upper level and introductory literature and writing courses plus courses in the general education core. The successful candidate will have a commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching, a record of success in teaching general education courses, and a desire to integrate faith and learning. The University of Dubuque invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice, beginning in August 2010. Principle responsibilities for this position include teaching four courses per semester in the undergraduate Criminal Justice program, supervising internships, advising students, active participation in department and University governance, and community service.
The successful candidate will have a commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching and advising, a record of success in teaching undergraduate courses in the Criminal Justice area, and academic teaching experience that is supplemented by professional experience. Preference will be given to candidates prepared to teach courses in law enforcement and police procedures, in addition to criminological courses in general.
Terminal degree preferred; a Masters in Criminal Justice or a related discipline and at least two years teaching experience required. Preferred candidates will have terminal degree in CIS, CS or a related field; ABD and masters degree holders will also be considered. The successful candidate will teach courses in computer literacy, information security, and web application development with an emphasis on e-Commerce applications and management information systems.
