During the week of August 10, 2015, Chris Ring, a Navy veteran, will be swimming his way down the Mississippi River. Ring started his swim on the anniversary of D-Day, June 6, and anticipates completing the swim in November. For three days, the University of Dubuque and the Sergeant Jeffrey B. Dodge Veterans Center will host the team.
The University of Dubuque has received two $1000 American Legion of Iowa Foundation scholarships to support veterans and their family members working to complete their education. The grant recognizes veterans and their family members as American Legion of Iowa Foundation scholarship recipients and provides additional support to cover the costs of higher education not covered by the GI Bill.
From August 3-7, Iowa Private College Week (IPCW) – sponsored by the Iowa Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (IAICU) – provides prospective students and their families a coordinated week-long opportunity to visit 25 non-profit, private college campuses. The annual event, offers campus tours and informational meetings specifically designed to assist students in evaluating their needs and goals for their higher education experience.
Formed in 2011, the University of Dubuque Fishing Club has steadily been “releasing more line” in the world of college fishing. Recently, two members of the club, Austin Brimeyer (Senior beginning in the fall, Dubuque, IA) and Anthony Riesberg (Graduated May 2015, Dyersville, IA), competed in the Carhartt Bassmaster College Series National Championship.
Heritage Center, the University of Dubuque’s performing arts, worship, and campus center, will host two volunteer usher orientation and training sessions on Tuesday, August 18 and Thursday, August 20, 2015 – both at 6:00 p.m. in John and Alice Butler Hall.

The University of Dubuque Alumni Association established the Alumni Athletic Hall of Fame in 1989 as a permanent place to honor those individuals who have promoted and served the University through its athletic programs.
UD theatre students, guided by faculty advisors, will cast, direct, build set, rehearse, design lighting, and perform a play all within 24 hours. The performance will take place at the end of the 24-hour period. *No Ticket Required
Students from high school and middle school representing Belmont, Benton, Cassville, Highland, Potosi, River Ridge, Shullsburg, and Wauzeka, Wisconsin will present a concert at beautiful John and Alice Butler Hall conducted by UD choral director, Dr. Charles Barland. TICKETS ARE FREE!
