To access E-Reserves, go to: http://ezproxy.dbq.edu:2048/login?url=http://eres.dbq.edu

Submission Guidelines
*The complete bibliographic citation must be included.

*If the article is available electronically through a library database, we will link to it.

*To facilitate scanning, paper copies of articles must be clear, without highlighting, underlining, or dark borders.

*Pages should be 8 ½ X 11, single sided copies, and in good condition.

*Items longer than 15 pages may be broken into smaller files.

*Instructors should submit requests at least 7 days before the beginning of each semester. Please allow 48 hours before e-reserve articles are available.

*The library reserves the right to refuse a request due to copyright restrictions.

Copyright Guidelines
We will follow the same laws and policies that apply to print reserves. See: http://www.dbq.edu/tech/pdf/copyrightlaw.pdf

What We Can Do
*Scan several articles that represent a small portion of the entire course material.

*Link to articles in a library database.

*Scan a single chapter of a book if it represents less than10% of the book's total content.

*Scan items that are no longer copyrighted (public domain).

*Scan government documents that are not subject to copyright law.

*Scan instructor-created documents and learning materials. (Examples: Syllabi, successful assignments, handouts, sample tests, etc.)

*Link to websites. (Example: a link to http://www.senate.gov)

*Continue to maintain a print and multimedia reserve collection at the circulation desk. (Examples: books, DVDs, and non-article resources such as kits)

What We CAN'T Do
*Scan a collection of articles that replaces use of a textbook for the course. This is legally considered a classroom anthology and must be handled as a course pack. The permission fees paid to create a course pack do not cover access on the E-Reserves system.

*Scan an entire issue of a print journal.

*Scan more than a single chapter from a book without requesting permission and making payment.

*Scan works intended to be "consumable."  These include workbooks, exercises, standardized tests, test booklets, answer sheets and like consumable material.

*Keep an item on Electronic Reserves for more than a single semester without requesting permission and making required payment.

What We Must Do
*Follow the same laws and policies that apply to print reserves.

*Monitor legal developments, which may affect the fair use analysis of electronic reserves service, to ensure that library services are in compliance with U.S. Copyright Law.

*Put the complete reference citation and a copyright notice on each item.

*Remove the item at the end of the semester OR request permission to use the it.

*There will two levels of authentication:
1. A username and password to authenticate only UD students, staff, and faculty.
2. A course password to make the item available only to students registered in a course. The default course password will be given by the Circulation Desk staff.
