Coretta Scott King Awards

The American Library Association announced the winners of the Coretta Scott King awards on January 26, 2009. The Coretta Scott King award is given every year to honor the best books by African American authors and illustrators. These 2008 books will be ordered for the Curriculum Library. This year’s winners are:

2009 Newbery and Caldecott Awards

The ALA announced the Newbery and Caldecott award winners on January 26, 2009. The Newbery award winner for this year is The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman, available in the Curriculum Library now (CL Fic Gai 43g) and the Caldecott award winner is the House in the Night by Susan Marie Swanson.
