Emergencies: Dial "911"
Walk-in Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm, 2nd Floor of Peters Commons in the Department of Student Life, Students will be greeted by the Student Life Office Manager or a member of the Student Life Team to assist and identify an available counselor in confidence.
Appointments: Students are welcome to schedule an appointment by calling the Student Life Office Manager at (563)-589-3113 or the UD Counseling Team Facilitator at (563)-589-3132
After Hours and Weekends, On-Call Counselors:
Time Frame Expectation for Counseling or Referral Services
Students may request to speak to a counseling team member immediately, within 24 hours, or within 48 hours. Students may also request to speak to a male team member, a female team member, or identify if they do not have a preference.
Options
The University has a variety of counseling options available and seeks to provide opportunities for personal growth and to assist students who have specific emotional, social, academic, spiritual, vocational, or personal concerns. Members of the Student Life Staff are trained for a variety of counseling needs. Appropriate referrals will be provided for students needing long-term personal counseling and/or other psychiatric services. On-campus counseling is confidential and provided at no cost to students.
Referral Assistance
The UD Counseling Team members can assist with referrals to Off-Campus Programs and/or Services, for such issues as; Alcohol and other Substance Abuse, Anxiety, LGBT, Debt Management, Depression, Eating Disorders, Gambling, Pregnancy, Stress Management, and Other Concerns. Assistance with off-campus referrals is confidential and provided at no cost to students.
Mission Statement
The University of Dubuque's Counseling Services mission fits integrally within the University's learning community. We are committed to a student centered, developmental approach in order to enhance and support students in their personal, educational, and vocational goals. The Counseling Services also works to enhance the well-being of all those in the university community by providing educational opportunities, consultation to faculty and staff, student advocacy, outreach programming, and retention services.

Ms. Lau will be on-campus during the regular academic year (August - May) and available for appointments/walk-ins on Monday's, Tuesday's, & Friday's 10:00am - 2:00pm; Wednesday's 10:00am - 4:00pm, and Thursday's 10:00am - 3:00pm.
Ms. Lau also provides educational outreach services in the Chlapaty Recreation & Wellness Center (August - May) on Monday's and Tuesday's, 2:00pm - 5:00pm.
Ms. Lau has over eight years experience working within the field of mental health, serving clients within the following capacity: outpatient and school based treatment services. She has over three years experience working within student affairs, to include residential life and accommodation assistance.

Dr. Baus has over sixteen years of experience as a provider within the field of mental health, serving clients within the following capacity: inpatient, outpatient, partial, and residential treatment services. She has over eleven years experience teaching in higher education, within the field of psychology. And, has worked within student affairs over the past five years.
Dr. Baus is on-campus during the academic year (August - May) Monday's - Fridays, 8:00am - 5:00pm and Summer Sessions Mondays - Thursday's, 8:00am - 5:00pm and Friday's 8:00am - Noon.
Services she provides on the UD campus: Advocacy, Crisis Management, Initial Assessment, On-campus Referral, Off-campus Referral, and Short-term Personal & Career Counseling.

Crisis Response Assistance:
As situational events may arise, the UD Counseling Team is prepared to receive assistance to better serve the University of Dubuque Campus Community and its crisis response needs through the following means: UD's Supportive Response Team, the American Red Cross Dubuque Chapter, Small College Counseling Consortium members from Dubuque colleges, the Dubuque Community School District, and other Dubuque community mental health professionals.
