    The University of Dubuque announced the appointment of Mike Durnin as Assistant Head Coach for the Spartans football team. Durnin joins the Spartans after being the head football coach at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, the past five seasons. He will enter his 26th year in the coaching ranks, and will be coaching the linebackers at UD.

    The University of Dubuque Wrestling team posted the most lopsided victory in school history with a 57-0 victory over Simpson College. The Spartans dominated the home opener winnings six matches by fall, three by forfeit, and one by decision. Ryan Warczynski recorded the quickest fall of the day earning the takedown just 52 seconds into his match at 157 lbs.

    The University of Dubuque Women's Basketball team outscored its two opponents by a combined 47 points on their way to the 2012 UD Holiday Classic Championship. The Spartans 77-57 victory over UW-River Falls pushed their winning streak to a school record nine games.
