    The University of Dubuque football team was chosen to finish fourth in the Iowa Conference by the 2013 coaches poll recently released.

    Spartans Volleyball Picked Third by IIAC Coaches

    The University of Dubuque Volleyball team was chosen to finish third place in the Iowa Conference Coaches Preseason Poll. The Spartans return six starters and eight letter winners from last season's 15-20 team that finished fourth in the IIAC with a 4-3 league mark.

    Women's Soccer Picked to Finish Third in Coaches Poll

    The University of Dubuque Women's Soccer team was picked to finish third in the Iowa Conference Coaches Preseason Poll. The Spartans return eight starters and 15 letter winners from last season's 11-7-2 team that place third in the league with 13 points and a 4-2-1 record. UD advanced to the IIAC Tournament Finals.

    UD Men's Soccer Picked Third in IIAC Coaches Poll

    The University of Dubuque Men's Soccer team was chosen to finish third in the IIAC Coaches Preseason Poll. The Spartans return eight starters and 15 letter winners from last season's 11-6-1 team that finished second in the Iowa Conference with 15 points and a 5-2-0 record.

    Loggins Named Head Women’s Lacrosse Coach

    Kendall Loggins has been named the new Women's Lacrosse Head Coach at the University of Dubuque. Loggins will continue to coach Women's Soccer in addition to her duties as Lacrosse Coach. She began at UD in 2011 as a graduate assistant for Women's Soccer.

    Women's Soccer Wins on Penalty Kick

    The University of Dubuque Women's Soccer team overcame temperature over 100 degrees on the field to come away with a 1-0 win on Friday night over Grinnell College.

    UD Men's Soccer Loses in Double Overtime

    The University of Dubuque Men's Soccer team left everything they had on the field in a double overtime loss on Friday night. The 3-2 loss to Augsburg College came with temperatures nearing 100 degree during the game.

    Sobotta Lead Spartans in Opener

    The University of Dubuque Spartans tied for first place of the 2013 Culver's Edgewood College Fall Classic with a team score of 598. UD's Mitch Sobotta claimed medalist honors after firing a 140 for the two day tournament.

    Spartans Men's Soccer Fall to Tommies

    The University of Dubuque Men's Soccer team played St. Thomas to an even 0-0 tie at the half before the Tommies rallied for three second period goals. Battling high temperates once again, the Spartans played 19 players including two goal keepers.

    The University of Dubuque volleyball team finished 3-1 at the season opening 2013 Beloit College Buc Blast over the weekend. UD's Jen Pohlman and Klaudia Basierak were named to the seven member All-Tourney Team for their efforts.

    Women's Soccer Wins Home Opener

    The University of Dubuque's one-two duo at forward of Megan Siepler and Alexandra Watkins provided all the offense the Spartans would need to take down St. Mary's University (0-2). The Sunday afternoon home opener saw Siepler and Watkins team up on all three goals in the Spartans 3-1 victory.

    Spartans Ranked 10th in NSCAA Women's Soccer North Region Poll

    The University of Dubuque Women’s Soccer team was ranked tenth in the initial National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/Continental Tire NCAA Division III North Region Poll. The Spartans are currently 2-0 on the season and have won 10 of their last 12 dating back to last season.

    Men's Golf Wins Loras Fall Invite

    The University of Dubuque once again finished at the top of the leaderboard on Tuesday at the Meadows Golf Club. The Spartans finished the afternoon shooting a team total 289 to capture the 2013 Loras College Fall Invitational at the nine team tournament. UD finished just one shot over Par on the Par 72, 6675 yards course.

    Watkins Named IIAC Performer of the Week

    University of Dubuque senior Alexandra Watkins was named IIAC Women’s Soccer (Offensive) Performer of the Week. Watkins finished the week with two goals and two assists as the Spartans went 2-0.

    Women's Tennis Improves to 3-1

    The University of Dubuque women's tennis team improved their overall record to 3-1 on Wednesday afternoon after capturing the dual match by a 6-3 score over the Knox College Prairiefire.

    Spartans Drop Pair on Road

    The University of Dubuque volleyball team dropped a pair of road contests on Wednesday night. UD opened with Edgewood College and lost 0-3 (19-25, 14-25, 24-26) before facing the hosts UW-Oshkosh and losing 0-3 (20-25, 19-25, 14-25).

    Men's Soccer Taken Down at Home

    The University of Dubuque Men's Soccer team will be prepared for anything once the Iowa Conference season begins later this month. The Spartans once again found themselves in a tight battle that would go down to the final seconds on Friday night. UD would lose to Lake Forest College (2-1) and the nations leading scorer from 2012, by the score of 2-1 at Oyen Field. Dubuque is now 0-3 on the season.

    Spartans Improve to 3-0

    The University of Dubuque Women's Soccer team continued its strong start to the 2013 with a convincing victory on Friday afternoon. After a slow start, the Spartans exploded for six goals in the second half on their way to a 7-1 victory over Lawrence University (0-1). Iowa Conference Women's Soccer (Offense) Performer of the Week, Alexandra Watkins scored three goals and assisted on another to lead UD.

    Spartans Football Opens with 35-24 Road Victory!

    The University of Dubuque football team engineered a hard fought victory on the road Saturday night by a 35-24 score over the UW-La Crosse Eagles. The Spartans scored on their first two possessions and never looked back in the squad's opening victory of the 2013 season.

    Spartans Remain Undefeated with Overtime Win

    The University of Dubuque Women's Soccer team remained undefeated to start the 2013 season with an overtime victory on Sunday afternoon. The 3-2 victory against Marian University (1-2) was the 125th overall victory for the program and Head Coach Jason Berna. The Spartans improved to 4-0 on the season.

    Rutenbeck Honored by IIAC

    University of Dubuque junior wide receiver Tyler Rutenbeck was named IIAC Football (Offensive) Performer of the Week. Rutenbeck caught five passes for 170 yards and two touchdowns in the Spartans 35-24 win over UW-La Crosse.

    University of Dubuque sophomore Katie Lynn has been named IIAC Women’s Soccer (Offensive) Performer of the Week. Lynn scored two goals and assisted on three other as UD went 2-0 on the week.

    Spartans Improve to #8 in NSCAA Poll - RV in D3soccer.com Top 25

    The University of Dubuque Women’s Soccer team moved up two spots to eighth in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/Continental Tire NCAA Division III North Region Poll. UD also received votes (13) in the D3soccer.com Top 25. The Spartans have outscored the opposition 14-4 on their way to a 4-0 record.

    Men's Soccer Ends in Draw with UW-Platteville

    The University of Dubuque Men's Soccer team continued it's non-conference schedule with another top notch opponent on Wednesday night. The Spartans made the short trip across the Dubuque-Wisconsin Bridge to take on UW-Platteville, the preseason pick to win the WIAC. UD and UW-P played a physical game for all 110:00 minutes which ended in a 0-0 tie.

    Spartans Open Fall with Three Wins

    The University of Dubuque men's golf team has been as hot as the fall weather this fall after placing in the top of all three meets they have entered. UD tied for the win at Edgewood College Fall Invite, won the Loras Fall Invite and cruised to a seven stroke victory at the Sept. 8-9 Midwest Region Golf Classic held at Trappers Turn golf course in Wisconsin Dells, Wis. (Full results from the meet are still pending.) UD had two individuals place in the Top-5 overall. Eric Wolfe was runner-up medalist and Martin Odegard placed fourth for the Spartans.

    Women's Golf Opens 2013 Season

    The University of Dubuque Women's Golf team began the 2013 season at the Wartburg Women's Fall Invite. The Spartans finsihed 11th in the 15 team field. Freshman Danielle Brown led the team with a score of 168 (+24), good for a tie for 26th place. UD finished third among the six Iowa Conference school playing in the event.

    Spartans Lose Third Sets and Match

    The University of Dubuque women's tennis team began Saturday morning with a sweep of doubles winning #2 and #3 doubles to take an early match lead 2-1 over the Buena Vista University Beavers before losing the match 3-6. Stephanie LoCasto and Marissa Rutenbeck at #2 doubles won 9-7 after being down early in the match. Alexandra Dixon and Janine Wegner captured #3 doubles 8-2.

    The University of Dubuque football team held a 7-0 lead after the first quarter of action Saturday night, but lost to #9-ranked UW-Platteville by a 24-38 score.

    Women's Cross Country Takes Ninth at Les Duke Invite

    The University of Dubuque Women's Cross Country team was finally able to get their season started after having the first scheduled race of the year cancelled because of heat. The Spartans came ready to run at the Les Duke Invitational hosted by Grinnell College taking ninth place in the 12 team field. The top finisher for UD was Brenda Nava in 27th place with a time of 24:36 on the 6K course.

    Men's Cross Country Finishes 11th at Grinnell

    The University of Dubuque Men's Cross Country team opened the 2013 season on Saturday morning at the Les Duke Invitational hosted by Grinnell College. The Spartans finished 11th of 14 teams. UD had its opening meet at Illinois Wesleyan cancelled because of heat concerns. The top finisher for Dubuque was Payton Nevills in 25th place at 27:19 on the 8K course.

    Spartans Win vs. Illinois Wesleyan

    The University of Dubuque Men's Soccer team picked up its first win of the season on Saturday afternoon at home against Illinois Wesleyan. The Spartans 3-1 win over IWU was the 53rd for Head Coach Brad Johnson making him the winningest coach in the programs 13 year history. Dubuque is now 1-3-1 on the year.

    Women's Soccer Remains Perfect

    The University of Dubuque Women's Soccer team improved to 5-0 on the year with a 1-0 victory over Dominican University. The Spartans 5-0 start matches the 2002 team for the best start in school history. UD finished with a 26-6 lead in shots and 15-2 advantage in corner kicks.

    The University of Dubuque Women's Golf team finished in sixth place at the Viterbo Invitational on Sunday. The Spartans leader for the weekend was Lauren Smith in 15th place with a 175.

    Men's Golf Second at Clarke Fall Classic

    The Spartans men's golf team placed second at the Clarke University Fall Classic and were led in scoring by a pair of Spartans who placed sixth, Eric Wolfe and Mitchell Sobotta both finished with a total of 150 over the two day meet which had 76 competitors.

    Spartans to Host 5th Annual Men's Golf Invitational

    The University of Dubuque will be hosting their 5th Annual Men's Golf Invitational on Sept. 21-22 at Dubuque Golf and Country Club in Dubuque. Founded in 1898, the Dubuque Golf and Country Club is one of a very select few private country clubs west of the Mississippi that are over 110 years old.

    Spartans Continue to Climb in Polls

    The University of Dubuque Women’s Soccer team once again moved up two spots in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/Continental Tire NCAA Division III North Region Poll with their #6 ranking this week. The Spartans also received 29 points in the D3soccer.com Top 25. UD is one of 21 remaining undefeated teams in all of NCAA DIII Women’s Soccer.
