    Peyton Nevills paced the Spartans with a 61st place finish as the University of Dubuque men's cross country team placed 20th at the 2014 Division III NCAA Central Regional meet.

    Dutch Run by Spartans in Final Football Game of Season

    The steady snowfall just prior to kick-off on Saturday made the conditions favorable for keeping the game on the ground. Unfortunate for the Spartans, it was the host Central College Dutch who racked up over 400 yards rushing in the white, snowy conditions on Saturday en route to a 38-7 victory over the Spartans.

    Fabiola Ortiz ran to a 38th place finish and the University of Dubuque women's cross country team placed 18th at the NCAA Division III Central Regional Meet hosted by Central College.

    Women's Basketball UD Tip-Off Classic Results

    The University of Dubuque Spartans opened the 2014 UD Tip-Off Classic with a 94-75 victory. In the Nightcap UW-Platteville rallied back to capture the contest over the Loras College Duhawks 70-67. Loras captured a 99-71 victory on Sunday over Edgewood and UW-Platteville edged out the Spartans 82-75.

    For the second game in a row, the University of Dubuque men's basketball team pulled away in the second half of a competitive game to win the Johnson Bank Tip-Off Classic Championship, 51-33, over Carroll University.

    Women’s Soccer Ties School Record with Seven IIAC Selections

    The University of Dubuque and the 2014 Iowa Conference Championship women’s soccer team earned seven All-Iowa Conference selections and matched a school record 16 wins from the 2013 team. The seven honors came as no surprise after the Spartans won both the IIAC regular season title and the IIAC tournament for the first time in school history. Five of the seven honorees were repeat winners.

    Spartans Dominate Eagles at Home

    The University of Dubuque Spartans women's basketball team improved to 2-1 overall on Wednesday night with a 77-60 victory over the UW-La Crosse Eagles on Jon Davison Court in Stoltz Sports Center. UD's defense forced the visiting Eagles into committing 30 turnovers and providing UW-L their first loss of the season.

    Unbeaten Men's Basketball Picked 2nd in IIAC Coaches Poll

    The University of Dubuque men's basketball team, last year's regular-season runner-up, picked up three first-place votes and sits second with 50 points in the 2014 IIAC Pre-season Coaches Poll recently released. The Spartans were picked second on two ballots and third on two others. The Spartans opened last weekend with a pair of victories at Caroll University Johnson Bank Classic taking the team championship. Earning all-tournament honors were Andre Norris and and Jacob Mohlis were named to the All-Tournament team for their efforts.

    The University of Dubuque men’s basketball team used smothering defense and on-point shooting to defeat North Central University (Minn.), 68-57, on Friday in the Northwestern ACR Homes Tip-Off Classic.

    The University of Dubuque wrestling team competed in the challenging 2014 Concordia University Open Wrestling Tournament on Saturday. The Spartans captured three place finishers as several of the top Division III collegiate wrestlers across the Midwest gathered at the R. John Buuck Field House Saturday for the Concordia University Wisconsin Open

    Men's Basketball Capture Second Tournament Title

    The University of Dubuque men's basketball team improved to 4-0 overall on Saturday and captured their second tournament title in back-to-back weekends. The Spartans trailed to the host Northwestern (Minn.) in the opening half of action by a 25-28 score, but UD would out score the hosts 44-29 in the second half to capture the 20th Annual Northwestern University ACR Homes Tournament title by a score of 79-67.

    VERACRUZ, Mexico – University of Dubuque sophomore pole vaulter, Rick Valcin, will represent his native country of St. Lucia as he competes in the Central American and Caribbean Games (CACG) sponsored by the Central American and Caribbean Sports Organization (CACSO) this Friday, November 28th at 8:30 a.m. central time.

    Norris Claims Men’s Basketball’s First IIAC Player of the Week Honor

    Junior Andre Norris was an all-around threat for the University of Dubuque men’s basketball team after leading the Spartans to a 2-0 record in the Northwestern ACR Homes Tip-Off Classic this past week. Norris’ efforts earned him the first men’s basketball Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) player of the week award of the season.

    Congratulations to the University of Dubuque’s 50 Fall All-Academic Iowa Conference award winners. The Spartans finished with the fourth-most honorees in the Iowa Conference, but led the way in women’s soccer (12) and tied with Simpson for the most in volleyball (7).

    Norris Leads Spartans in Colorado College Tourney

    The University of Dubuque men's basketball are spending the Thanksgiving Holiday the same way they have spent the past two weekends, on the road playing in a basketball tournament. This weekend the Spartans opened the Colorado College Tournament with a 83-60 victory over Willamette University (Ore.) in the opening game. The victory matches up the Spartans with the hosts, the Colorado College Tigers, at 7:00 p.m. (Mountain Time) in the Championship game. The Tigers were victorious over the University of Northwstern 70-61 on Friday night.

    Women's Basketball Sinks Unbeaten Gustavus in UW-Stout Tourney

    The University of Dubuque women's basketball team showed no slow down after Thanksgiving by edging out the Gustavus Adolphus College Gusties in the opening game of the 2014 UW-Stout Thanksgiving Turkey Shootout Tournament by a narrow 78-76 margin. The Gusties made the finish exciting for the fans, trailing by four points, they connected on a three point shot with 10 seconds left of the game. A quick foul sent the Spartans Jenna Kotas to the line for a pair of freethrows. She would miss the first and sink the second attempt to give the Spartans the 78-76 lead. An attempt by the Gusties as time expired missed it's mark and the Spartans captured their third victory of the season and handed Gustavus their first loss of the season.

    Men's Basketball Win Colorado Tourney

    The host Colorado College Tigers battled the University of Dubuque men's basketball team until the final minute of the 2014 Colorado College Tournament, but the Spartans remained a perfect 6-0 with a 77-68 victory. UD led at halftime 33-31, but the Tigers attacked in the second half and closed to within a point with 5:34 left in game. The Spartans fought each advance and increased the lead to seven points after a Gage Heffernan steal and thundering dunk at 3:35. The Tigers once rallied back connecting on a three pointer and a pair of free throws to narrow lead to within a bucket with less than three minutes to play. UD would sink their last 7-8 free throw attempts to extend the lead to nine in the final minute.

    Women's Basketball Celebrate Turkey Shootout Title

    The University of Dubuque women's basketball team continue to evolve and improve into a team which looks much different from what Spartan fans watched last season. What the Spartans lack in height has been more than balanced with quickness from a strong core of seniors and underclassmen. Competing in the UW-Stout Thanksgiving Turkey Shootout this weekend, Coach Mark Noll and assistant Kelsey Steinhagen returned to their alma mater and ran away with the championship title. The Spartans were held in check at the start of the championship game, but began to open up their lead by 15 points at halftime. UD sprinted out in the second half and led by as many as 27 points en route to cruising to an 87-62 dominating win against the host UW-Stout Blue Devils Sunday afternoon.

    Gage Heffernan’s MVP performance led the University of Dubuque men’s basketball team to the Colorado College Thanksgiving Tournament title, an unblemished 6-0 record (receiving votes in D3hoops.com Top 25), and UD’s first 2014-15 IIAC (Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) Athlete of the Week award.

    The University of Dubuque Iowa Conference Championship women's soccer team continue to be recognized for their season accolades. The National Soccers Coaches Association of America (NASCAA) released their 2014 NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division III Women's All-North Region as two student-athletes were awarded the post season honors.

    Spartans Face Top-ranked Teams at UW-La Crosse Duals

    The University of Dubuque wrestling team faced top-ranked competition on Saturday and finished 1-2 in dual meets. The Spartans beat UW-Stevens Point by criteria 21-20. Match was tied, but the Spartans earned one team point for criteria of scoring 51 points in decision and major decision victories while UW-SP scored 50.

The University of Dubuque Track and Field Academy will be held on Sunday, January 18 and on Sunday, January 25, 2015. The cost is $110 per person with a group discount of $15 off when you sign up with two or more teammates.

    The University of Dubuque wrestling team earned two individual titles at the 2014 North Central College Wrestling Tournament. Freshman Joey Cisneros won the 125 lbs. weight class after beating Collin Lesko (Alma) in the finals by a decision of 8-2. Senior Brian Travis claimed the 149 lbs. title after earning a 3-2 decision in the finals.
