    Spartan Men's Golf Place 3rd at Clarke Fall Invite

    The University of Dubuque men's golf team battled through rain and wind in their final round of play on Monday at the Clarke University Fall Classic held at Thunder Hills C.C. in Peosta. The Spartans finished 3rd out of 12 teams after trailing for the lead by two strokes the opening round 9 (309-311=620).

    Men's Soccer Lose on Late Goal

    The University of Dubuque men' soccer team and the UW-Platteville Pioneers played a balanced match on Wednesday evening with both teams seeing quality shots on goal. Through 86 minutes it appeared as though the contest might be headed for overtime, knotted at 0-0, before the Pioneers Mbodje Sarr took advantage of the ball bouncing off a Spartan defender.

    Spartans Defense Stops Boxers

    The University of Dubuque held on for a tough, knock down win over the Pacific University Boxers on Saturday night on Chalmers Field 16-10. Under near ideal conditions Saturday evening the Spartans 1-2 overall looked to their defense every time the visiting Boxers moved the ball within striking distance. The defense displayed what they are capable of after collecting four interceptions in the victory.

    Spartans Host IIAC Women's Golf

    The 2014 Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) Women's Golf Championship begins this weekend, September 26-27, with the first 36 holes of the 72-hole Championship. This weekend's rounds will be played at Pheasant Ridge Golf Club in Cedar Falls, Iowa. The final 36 holes will be played October 3-4 at Dubuque Golf and Country Club in Dubuque. Play will begin at 10:00 a.m. on September 26 and at 9:00 a.m. on September 27. University of Dubuque is the host of the 2014 Women's Golf Championship.

    The University of Dubuque women's soccer team earned their sixth shut-out of the season on Saturday after taking the contest over the Buena Vista University Beavers 3-0. UD led 1-0 after the opening period after a goal by Megan Siepler in 35:28, the Spartans extended their led to 2-0 just three minutes into the second half when Melanie Prudhomme scored at 48:52.     Spartans Unbeaten in IIAC After Loras Victory

    The University of Dubuque women's soccer team scored first and held a lead throughout most of the game on Wednesday evening, but needed two overtimes to complete the exciting victory over the Loras College Duhawks at the Rock Bowl by a score of 3-2. The last time the Spartans captured regular season victory over Loras was Oct. 21, 2009 which was also the Duhawks last regular season IIAC loss. The series since 2009 has provided three, double overtimes games. In 2009, the Spartans won the IIAC Tournament and advanced into the NCAA Division III National Championships.

The sun made it’s appearance through the clouds as the final groups finished the final nine holes along the picturesque fall foliage of the Dubuque Golf and Country Club.
