Kelli Gerace: 2-4 in Game 2

DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque softball team was looking to wrap up an automatic bid into the 2013 IIAC Tournament on Senior Day, but it was the visiting Buena Vista University Beavers which kept their hopes alive by taking both games on Saturday. In the opener, UD stranded five runners on base in the 0-2 loss. In game two, the Beavers jumped out to an early lead and captured the game 6-2. UD would strand nine base runners in the loss.

The two losses dropped the Spartans to fifth in the Iowa Conference standings. The Beavers held the Spartans to only two hits in game one and seven hits on game two. Kelli Gerace would finish game two with two hits.

UD would make contact in each game, unfortunately for the Spartans the hits were right to the Beaver defense.

The Spartans finish the conference season this week by facing the Wartburg College Knights 4-24 overall, 0-10 in IIAC in Dubuque on April 24 before travelling to face the #13-ranked Coe College Kohawks 27-3 overall, 9-1 in IIAC on April 27.
