Tyler Rutenbeck: IIAC Football (Offensive) Performer of the Week

CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA - The Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) announced today that Coe College volleyball player Mackenzie Harbaugh and Coe College football player Mitch Montgomery have been named IIAC Athletes of the Week for the week ending September 8, 2013. The Conference also announced Performers of the Week in eight fall sports.

University of Dubuque junior wide receiver Tyler Rutenbeck (Maquoketa, Iowa/Maquoketa) was named IIAC Football (Offensive) Performer of the Week. Rutenbeck caught five passes for 170 yards and two touchdowns in the Spartans 35-24 win over UW-La Crosse.  His 170 yards were the highest total in the IIAC for Week 1, 11th in the NCAA, and the 21st best single game receiving total in UD history. Rutenbeck caught TD passes of 64 yards in the first quarter and 40 yards in the third quarter. 

In the last six games, Rutenbeck has caught a touchdown pass in each game while also pulling in 26 passes for 586 yards and ten touchdowns. His breakout game came against Simpson when he caught eight passes for 190 yards and four touchdowns.
