AURORA, Ill. - The University of Dubuque volleyball team captured two wins on Saturday to improve to 6-4 overall.
The Spartans opened with a 3-0 win over Aurora University by scores of 26-16, 25-16, 25-18. Klaudia Basierak led offensively with a dozen kills and led with three service aces. Jen Pohlman had eight kills and five block assists. Setting duo of Meggie Schmidt and Hannah Zeiser would account for 30 of the 33 set assists.
UD finished the match with a hitting percentage of .388.
In the final match of the afternoon, 12 Spartans would see action Vs. Rockford University. UD was pushed to a five set match, winning 3-2 by scores of 22-25, 15-15, 21-25, 25-17, 15-12.
Basierak garenered 16 kills while teammate Amy Tranel scored on 15 kills and Brianna Bautsch finished with 11 kills. Basierak led in defensive digs with 22 as Morgan Werkheiser earned 17 digs. Schmidt and Zeiser both had 27 set assists as Schmidt and Werkheiser served up three aces over the Regents.
The Spartans host Loras College on Sept. 18 at 7:30 p.m. and will be on the road until October 1 when they host Iowa Conference opponent Central College at 7:30 p.m.
