DUBUQUE, IOWA - The University of Dubuque Men's Soccer team pulled out an overtime victory over Central College on Wednesday night on Oyen Field. The game featured numerous swings in momentum with UD coming out on top in the end. The Spartans Cory Winkler (Lakeville, Minn./Apple Valley) scored 46 seconds into overtime to give UD a 3-2 win. UD was able to get on the scoreboard first after Gonzalo Hernandez (Madrid, Spain/Colegio Internacional Kolbe) was tackled in the box on a breakaway setting up a penalty kick. Winkler stepped up to the PK line and without hesitation kicked a line shot past the keeper to give UD a 1-0 advantage.

After an even 20 minutes following the PK goal, Central scored twice within 1:03 to take a 2-1 lead with five minutes remaining in the game. With the clock now under one minutes to play, Hernandez put a shot on goal that hit the crossbar and went straight down towards to foot of Alassane Doukoure (Abidjan, Ivory Coast/Baumholder). Doukoure was able to control the ball and hit it home to tie the game with 39 seconds left in regulation.

With the momentum now on the Spartans side, overtime would not last long as Winkler scored his second goal of the game 46 seconds into OT.
