Norris Named IIAC Men's Basketball Performer of the Week

Andre Norris: IIAC Men's Basketball Performer of the Week.

CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA - The Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) announced today that Loras College basketball player Katie Langmeier and Buena Vista University football player Mason Nielsen have been named IIAC Athletes of the Week for the week ending Sunday, November 17, 2013. The Conference also announced Performers of the Week in six sports – football, men's and women's basketball, wrestling and men's and women's swimming and diving.

University of Dubuque sophomore Andre Norris (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield Central) was named IIAC Men’s Basketball Performer of the Week. Norris averaged 20.0 points per game while shooting 68.2% (15-22) from the field in two Spartans victories last week. He opened the season with 16 points, four rebounds, and two assists in the 88-70 victory against North Central (MN). The Spartan forward took his game to another level against Northwestern-St. Paul in the final game of the Northwestern/ACR Homes Tip-Off Classic. Norris scored 24 points on nine of 13 shooting from the floor with five rebounds, two steals, and one block as Dubuque went on to win 85-81. UD has won nine of their last ten games dating back to last season.

Norris, a Second Team All-Iowa Conference selection as a freshman averaged 9.9 points and 3.8 rebounds per game in 2012-13. He is the second consecutive Spartan to win the Men’s Basketball Performer of the Week award after Miles Hookstead was the final honoree last season.
