PEOSTA, Iowa - The University of Dubuque men's golf team opened with a round of 299 at the Loras Invite held at Thunder Hills C.C. in Peosta on Sunday. The Spartans trailed Wartburg and Augsburg by four strokes after they finished day one with scores of 295. Senior Martin Odegard led the Spartans with a round of 69. Eric Wolfe shot a first day 75, Josh Schuberg a 76, Mitch Sobotta a 79, and Cameron Shere finished with an 84.
The Spartans second team shot a round of 314. Anders Haukoos led the white team with a round of 76. Troy Krueger had a 78, Christian Armas shot a 79, Lane Hawkins an 81, and Josh Turner a 97.
The squads continued play on Monday and the Spartans made a rally to tie with Augsburg for the team title with scores of 591. UD lost in the second tie breaker to place second in the two-day tourney. Odegard shot a 71 on day two and claimed medalist honors for the Spartans with a score of 140.
