Josh Eastman: IIAC Baseball Performer of the Week

CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWAThe Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) announced today that Central softball player Whitney Sowers and Coe baseball player AJ Reuter have been named IIAC Athletes of the Week for the week ending Sunday, April 6, 2014. The Conference also named Performers of the Week in six spring sports. A trio of Spartans earned Performer of the Week honors with Josh Eastman (Baseball), Mitchell Sobotta (Men's Golf), and Rick Valcin (Men's Outdoor Track) being honored.

University of Dubuque junior Josh Eastman (Edgerton, Wis./Edgerton) was named IIAC Baseball (Pitcher) Performer of the Week. Eastman threw a complete game, two-hit, shutout versus Coe on Saturday in the Spartans 10-0 win. He was working on a perfect game through five innings until a lead double in the bottom of the sixth. The Spartan ace needed only 65 pitches for the seven inning complete game. He finished with no walks and one strikeout.

A Honorable Mention All-IIAC selection in 2013, Eastman is 2-2 with a team high 28.2-innings pitched and 19-strike outs. This is the first time he has been selected as IIAC Performer of the Week.
