On Saturday, February 23, the University of Dubuque will host “Iowa College Goal Sunday.” The event, held at organizations throughout the state during the week of February 16 – 24, is part of the national College Goal SundaySM program, offering free assistance to Iowa students and families with forms required for federal financial aid. UD is one of 34 sites across Iowa to host this financial aid event.

“This event is a great opportunity for students and families to receive free assistance in filing the FAFSA,” stated Amy Gaffney, associate director of student financial planning at the University of Dubuque and president of the Iowa Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (IASFAA). “Local financial aid professionals will be on hand from the area colleges and universities as well as the Iowa College Access Network (ICAN), providing one-on-one guidance through the application process. Volunteers for Iowa College Goal SundaySM will help students and their families fill out and file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as part of the national program that helps students qualify for federal financial aid. The FAFSA, which is available in free paper and electronic forms from the U.S. Department of Education, is the first step in the qualification process.
