Heritage Center, the University of Dubuque’s new performing arts, worship, and campus center, will host a public open house on Wednesday, August 7, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The evening will feature live entertainment, building tours, complimentary refreshments, door prizes, and an early opportunity to purchase individual event tickets. Brochures will also be distributed featuring the University’s inaugural 2013-2014 Live at Heritage Center performing arts season.

Entertainment offerings will be varied. In John and Alice Butler Hall, UD Associate Professor of Music Dr. Charles Barland will perform on the new 9-foot, Steinway concert grand piano. A jazz combo led by UD jazz instructor Bill Encke will grace the stage of the Cybercafé, while the Babka Theatre will host a variety of short theater and dance pieces.

Tour guides will be strategically located throughout the facility to provide insights and answer questions about particular areas of the facility.

A variety of ticket giveaways will occur throughout the evening including a grand prize of a CenterStage subscription series ticket package valued at $203.00. This package includes a ticket to seven 2013-2014 Live at Heritage Center performances including Doc Severinsen and his Big Band, “The Piano Men” Elton John and Billy Joel tribute concert, The King’s Singers, Soweto Gospel Choir, and more.

Possibly the biggest attraction of the evening will be the advance opportunity for area residents to buy individual event tickets in person at the box office. Those unable to attend the Wednesday, August 7 open house will not be able to purchase individual tickets via phone or in-person at the box office window until Friday, August 16.

All tri-state area residents are invited and encouraged to attend this open house to discover the incredible facilities and programming offered through this new University venue.
