Senior Mollie Whiting set school records for points in a season (667) and points in a career (1737). As a team, UD also set a new school record with 340 steals. UD finishes the 2012-13 season with a 20-8 record.

Harrold Named Women's Basketball Coach at Grinnell

Dana Harrold has been named head women’s basketball coach at Grinnell College, according to Director of Athletics and Recreation Greg Wallace. Harrold becomes the 10th Pioneer women’s basketball coach in program history after serving as an assistant coach at the University of Dubuque since 2006.

The University of Dubuque Women's Basketball team faced a tough challenege on Friday night on the road at Division I Drake University. The Spartans were unable to slow the Bulldog offense in the 98-59 defeat. Jessica Goetz and Jenna Kotas led Dubuque on offense with 15 points each. The Spartans 90-83 victory over Edgewood College (0-2) marked the most points scored since UD scored 100 points against Mt. Mary College on November 30, 2006. Freshman Emily Brinker led Dubuque with 18 points as 16 different Spartans scored in the contest.

The nearly 60 degree difference in temperatue between Dubuque and St. Pete did not effect the Spartans as they beat Eureka 105-79 in their first game of the Basketball Destinations St. Pete Classic. UD finished the game shooting 50.0% (41-82) from the field. Dubuque improves to 6-3 overall and won their third game.

Kotas averaged 22.5 points per game while averaging 23.0 minutes per game in two UD victories at the Basketball Destinations St. Pete Classic. The Spartans 83-76 victory over Luther on Saturday afternoon helped UD to a program best second place finish in the Iowa Conference (IIAC). UD was lights out from the free throw line, shooting a season best 87.1% (27-31) from the charity stripe including making 14 straight the end the game.

The Spartans 63-59 loss to Buena Vista on Tuesday night proved the old saying that the hardest thing in sports to do is beat a team three times in a season. Jenna Kotas recorded a double-double, scoring 19 points and pulling down 10 rebounds. UD finishes the year with a 17-9 overall record.

Kotas & Goetz Named All-Iowa Conference

University of Dubuque Women's Basetball student-athletes Jenna Kotas and Jessica Goetz each earned All-Iowa Conference (IIAC) honors as voted by the leagues coaches. Kotas was named to the First Team while Goetz earned Second Team recognition. The Spartans finished the season with an overall record of 17-9 and tied for second place in the IIAC at 10-4. The second place finish was the best in the programs history.
