Mission

The Mission of the University of Dubuque Nursing Program

To educate nurses to provide the highest quality of care within the context of the diverse, dynamic, and challenging health care environments of the 21st century.

The Program/Learning Outcomes of the University of Dubuque

Upon completion of the University of Dubuque Nursing Program, graduates will:

1. Deliver patient-centered care that is ethical, safe, effective, efficient, timely, and equitable using systematic assessment and critical analysis of the care situation and application of the best evidence, best practices, available technology, cultural considerations and ethical tenets.

2. Promote health care teamwork to affect the highest quality patient-centered care through the use of communication, relationship-building, quality improvement, management, and leadership skills.

3. Optimize patient, family, and population health and self-care ability in a variety of health care settings by constantly seeking to identify, develop, implement, and maintain best health practices with other health care team members.

4. Identify, analyze, and maximize personal and professional opportunities for growth.

5. Participate in political, regulatory, and health care organizational processes to promote improvements in health care delivery systems and practices.

The Goals of the University of Dubuque Nursing Program

The goals of the Nursing Program are to provide the foundational knowledge base, environments, and experiences to ensure that students will be prepare to:

1. Utilize systematic assessment and critical analysis of the care situation, the technology available, best evidence, best practices, cultural considerations, and ethical tenants to deliver patient-centered care that is ethical, safe, effective, efficient, timely, and equitable.

2. Employ communication, relationship-building, quality improvement, management, and leadership skills to promote health care teamwork to affect the highest quality, patient-centered care.

3. Constantly seek to identify, develop implement, and maintain best health care practices with other health care team members to optimize patient health.

4. Develop self-analysis and lifelong learning skills to identify and maximize personal and professional opportunities for growth.

5. Improve the quality of health care delivery through participation in political, regulatory, and organizational processes.
