This course provides an introduction to several social issues such as poverty, environmental problems, housing, prejudice and crime, to name a few. Students will have the opportunity to develop an understanding of why and how social problems develop both at the national and global level. By providing a frame of reference as well as theory for interpreting data and analyzing problems, alternative solutions and their possible consequences are explored.
