Campus Ministry

Campus Ministry Activities 2008
Upcoming Events Tuesday Chapel
Gathering weekly at 9:30 a.m. in Alumni Hall. Chapel services include contemporary Christian music, Biblical topics relevant for campus life, prayer for personal needs, and a joyful, welcoming atmosphere.

Real Life Groups
The place to hang out with other students on weeknights in the residence halls. In these small groups you will laugh a lot, develop lasting friendships and learn more about God through Bible study.

Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA)
Learn how to "run the race" of faith and grow in your relationship with Jesus Christ. FCA is open to both athletes and non-athletes.

Lighthouse
This lively praise and worship event draws a large crowd to the UD dining hall on Thursday night at 9 p.m. Here is your chance to sing, pray, and get excited with others who are seeking to know God more.

Spring Break Mission Trip
Travel with us to a place of need where you can serve the poor and assist in Christ's ministry. In recent years our student teams have traveled to a Zulu township in South Africa and a Maya village in Guatemala.

Student Conferences
Scholarships are available for weekend spiritual retreats throughout the year.
  • "The Main Event" is a time of spiritual growth and awesome worship with collegians from throughout the Midwest at the Unidome in Waterloo (Fall Semester).
  • "Iowa Student Leadership Conference" (ISLC), held at the Embassy Suites in Des Moines, is a Christ-centered program for student leaders who want to put God first (Spring Semester).

Community Outreach
Help people in need through local service projects such as the "Crop Walk," Dubuque Gospel Mission, and Habitat for Humanity.

Chaplain's Office/Counseling
The University Chaplain is happy to talk with you about your spiritual questions and personal struggles. Just drop by the Campus Ministry office across from the cafeteria, or call 563-589-3582 (extension 3582 on campus) for an appointment.

Financial Aid
(Further information about faith-based scholarships is available from the campus ministry office.)

The Samuel Robinson Award is given to full-time juniors and seniors. The requirements are to recite the answers to the Westminster Shorter Catechism, and to write a 2,000 word essay on an assigned topic designed to increase the student's understanding of the Catechism. You must complete both requirements to be eligible. If your essay is acceptable, you will receive an award of up to $1,500.
