Head Baseball Coach
Shane Schellsmidt serves as the head baseball coach for University of Dubuque. A native of New Albin, Iowa, Schellsmidt, attended the Iowa High School baseball powerhouse, Kee High School (Lansing, Iowa). Along with his responsibilities at the University of Dubuque Coach Schellsmidt serves as an Associate Scout for the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Director of the newly formed Mississippi River Valley Collegiate Baseball Wooden Bat League. Mark McCarthy joined the Spartan baseball staff in 2004. McCarthy brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience that will only enhance the quality baseball the University of Dubuque is looking to obtain. McCarthy, a native of Dubuque, IA, was a member of the 1978 Dubuque Hempstead High School State Championship team. Following high school McCarthy attended Black Hawk Junior College, in Moline, IL, and then transferred to Eastern Oregon University, in La Grande, OR. Coach Mac carries many other duties outside the Spartan baseball program; he directs the Tri-States Fall Baseball League, as well as giving personal hitting and pitching instruction. |
