Chalmers Field, located south of the Stoltz Sports Complex is home for the Spartans football, track and field teams.
History: In 1942, the field was named in honor of UD's highly successful football coach and respected Dubuque judge, John G. Chalmers, who regarded coaching at UD his hobby.
The 4000 person capacity stadium was completed in 2008 as part of the Chlapaty Recreation and Wellness Center and includes a reconfigured press box; coaches, radio and television booths; and a University entertainment suite.

The Chlapaty Recreation and Wellness Center, an 87,000 square foot facility opened in the fall of 2008 includes:
a 6900 square foot, 2-level fitness center including areas for cardiovascular workout and free weights/machines;
a 200 meter, 6-lane indoor track with synthetic flooring for fitness walking and performance;
4 multi-use courts nested in the center of the track for intramurals and indoor practices;
a 16 foot-wide concourse running the length of the facility, overlooking the track and courts; home, visitor, officials and faculty/staff locker rooms; a juice bar/lounge area.
Baseball and Softball Fields

The UD Softball Field is located east of the Chalmers Football Field, south of Cassat and Donnell Residence Halls. Located in Chlapaty Sports Complex. Recent renovations include new sculpted dugouts, press box area, new fencing, and year-round water fountains in each dugout.
The UD baseball field is located directly south of the Chalmers Football Field. Located in Chlapaty Sports Complex. Recent renovations include new sculpted dugouts, press box, year-round water fountains in each dugout, and permanent stadium seating around the back stop. The seats have been part of many Major League Baseball games, as they are from the former Chicago White Sox Stadium.
Oyen Soccer Field

Located adjacent to U. S. Highway 20, the field is 80 yards wide by 120 yards long and was the second field in the Iowa Conference to have a lighted natural grass turf. The field serves both as a practice and game site for the men's and women's soccer teams.
History: Kevin '81 and Lynne '78 Oyen contributed to the construction and lighting of the soccer field. The field was dedicated on September 27,2003.
Stoltz Sports Center

The Stoltz Sports Center is connected to McCormick Gymnasium. In 2008, the renovated building became the competition gymnasium for basketball, wrestling, and volleyball contests. The lower level of the center is where the Knox Coix classroom, raquetball courts, equipment storage and locker rooms are located. Coaches offices are on the upper level in this building
History: Built in 1989, the sports center was made possible through the efforts and generosity of alumnus Charles E. Stoltz and other dedicated UD alumni and friends. Mr. Stoltz is a prominent Dubuque and Omaha meat packing entrepreneur. The Center approximately doubled the size of the gymnasium and recreational factilities

The tennis courts are located just west of the football field, at the south end of McCormick Street.
History: In 1990, the tenniscourts were funded by the Frank Farber Family, successful Dubuque business leaders. James and David Farber are UD Alumni.
