THE UNIVERSITY OF DUBUQUE IS A BEAUTIFUL 56-ACRE SPREAD ON ONE OF DUBUQUE'S FAMOUS HILLS.

Our campus is growing

The University of Dubuque campus is a beautiful 56-acre spread on one of Dubuque's famous hills. Located only a short distance from shopping areas, restaurants and entertainment establishments, it features three residence halls–[Cassat, Donnell, and Aitchison]–each with its own personality and facilities for laundry, meetings and lounging.

In the center of the campus quadrangle stands the William C. Laube Memorial Bell Tower, constructed in 1975 as a memorial to a beloved university professor and alumnus. It chimes every quarter hour during the day.

Located on the quad are Van Vliet Hall, which houses the offices of the academic dean, student accounts, college admission, financial aid, registrar and faculty offices; Severance Hall, which houses seminary faculty/staff offices, and president's office; Blades Hall, with classrooms, faculty offices and Blades Chapel/Auditorium; Alumni Hall, which houses the Molitore Art Gallery and is also used for recitals, lectures and continuing education programs; and the Jackaline Baldwin Dunlap Technology Center, with the Hadley Auditorium, Iowa Communication Network classroom, and numerous computer laboratories and computer graphics studios.

Adjacent to the quadrangle are Smith Hall, with faculty offices and classrooms; Goldthorp Science Hall, with modern laboratory facilities and lecture halls; and Peters Commons, which contains the dining hall, Student Union, chaplain, student life office, the campus post office and Babka Bookstore.

Near Smith Hall is the Academic Resource Center, housing more than 165,000 volumes of books and periodicals in the reference and circulating collections; 9,000 in the non-circulating Special Collections; 25,000 items in microtext, aggregates of special materials such as corporate reports and phonorecords; 700 subscriptions to current periodicals; and Curriculum Lab which supports the programs in education. The Academic Support Center/Media Services, the academic computer (IBM RE/6000), and a Mac Lab are also in this building.

The alumni offices are located at 1920 University and the advancement offices at 1904 University, at the northeast corner of the campus.

UD competes at the intercollegiate level as a member of Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) and the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III. The Stoltz Sports Center and the McCormick Gymnasium are the homes for indoor intercollegiate and intramural competition. The Sports Center also houses the newly renovated Dr. Charles C. Myers Fitness Center, available to the entire campus community. The Has J. Chlapaty Sports Complex, located on the south side of campus, accommodates football on the Chalmers Field, track on the Doug Miller Track, and tennis on the Farber Tennis Courts. The complex also includes newly furbished baseball and softball fields

Westminster Presbyterian Church provides additional classroom and music ensemble practice rooms for all four schools of the University. The Potterveld Apartments are used by married students from the college and seminary, and some seminary students live in the homes located within the campus borders, especially those on Grace and Bennett streets.
