Welcome from the President

It is a privilege for me as President to welcome you to the University of Dubuque.

As you have probably already gathered, the University of Dubuque is enjoying one of the most exciting periods of its history. Our faculty and staff are committed to your success in every way. You will find them to have time for you, individually; to be supportive of you, challenging you and affirming you as you endeavor to reach your goals. As an educational community, you will find peers and mentors who are interested in your success. There will be opportunities to develop life-long friendships and relationships as you grow intellectually, spiritually, and morally.

As you progress through your academic program, our Career Services staff will help you to develop your own portfolio in preparation for your transition to the world of work following graduation. Currently, over 97% of our undergraduate students are either employed or in graduate school six months after graduation. Our campus ministry program will challenge you to think of the world beyond your own goals and dreams, and provide you opportunities to experience that world in many different ways. In recent history, students have taken mission trips to South Africa, Mexico, the Gulf Coast, and Kenya. And, if intercollegiate athletics is one of your passions, you will find one of the most competitive programs in the region, supported by an outstanding coaching staff and facilities that are second to none, and an intramural program that has over 1000 participants throughout the year.

In the last decade, the University of Dubuque has invested in its facilities to such an extent that our campus in one of the most beautiful and up-to-date in the country. You will enjoy state-of-the-art technology, the new Jackaline Baldwin Dunlap Technology Center, Charles C. Myers Library, University Science Center, and the Charles and Romona Myers Center. In addition to our new educational buildings, you will find new undergraduate and seminary student apartments, newly renovated residence halls and, as of fall of 2008, the new Chlapaty Recreation and Wellness Center. The new wellness center will include one of the most attractive Division III football complexes in the country, a new 200-meter indoor track, a 6,000 square foot fitness and dance center, and a new performance gymnasium with renovated locker rooms and fitness areas. And, through 2015, the University will be working to complete a new Fine and Performing Arts, Worship, and Campus Center, an additional residence rall, and a new building for our theological seminary with additional offices for our faculty.

This is just a snapshot of who we are as the University of Dubuque. We look forward to welcoming you to our campus, getting to know you personally, and to helping you be all that you can be!

Sincerely,

Rev. Jeffrey F. Bullock, Ph.D.
