Transfer Student Orientation

Transfer students, having already attended another college, understand what university life is like. With that in mind, Transfer Student Orientation is designed to help you successfully continue your college journey here through specific training and support to prepare you for your studies and success at the University of Dubuque.

Transfer and Non-Traditional Student Orientation 2019

Transfer and Non-Traditional Orientation Goals:
  1. Create a welcoming environment that builds a sense of community for new students
  2. Foster and develop valuable connections for new students on campus
  3. Provide opportunities for new students to become acquainted with campus resources
  4. Build confidence of families of incoming students through encouragement and support

How will we meet these goals together? We offer a robust and welcoming orientation program that will give new students a small group of fellow new students to build initial relationships with, as well as ample opportunities to meet many other new students through social events. Each group is matched with an upper class peer mentor who will guide and advise new students, helping them to acclimate to new surroundings and connect to resources and friends. New students who commit to participating in all of New Student Orientation are choosing success in their first days on campus and setting up great student success habits that will trickle into class attendance, involvement in leadership opportunities, and building relationships that last a lifetime.

The needs of Transfer and Non-Traditional Students are different from First Year students. With that in mind, we offer a condensed one-day program for students, with the convenience of selecting one of three dates to attend the program.
