With that in mind, Transfer Student Orientation is designed to help you successfully continue your college journey here through specific training and support to prepare you for your studies and success at the University of Dubuque.

New Student Orientation Spring 2019: It Starts With YOU!

New Student Orientation Schedule

Friday, January 25, 2019
9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.                                                Orientation Check-In, AY McDonald Lobby, Heritage Center

Check in anytime between 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m., and pick up your orientation packet which includes a schedule of orientation activities, a free gift, and more! Also enjoy a light breakfast buffet. 

10:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. University Welcome, Straatmeyer Room, Heritage Center

Join us for the official welcome to UD by University administration, staff, and student leaders and peer mentors. 

10:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. Campus Resource Introduction and Fair, Straatmeyer Room, Heritage Center

Meet with various campus resources like the Academic Success Center, Study Abroad, Student Activities, Campus Ministry, and more. This is your chance to ask any questions you may have and discover services and resources available to you as student. 

11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.  Lunch, CyberCafe, Heritage Center

Enjoy a complimentary lunch in our cafe, then use this time to take care of any errands or details you’d like to accomplish before classes begin. Visit Security to register your vehicle or take your ID photo. Stop by Financial Planning to make sure your aid package is complete. Take a trip to the Bookstore to pick up textbooks or new UD apparel. Mentors will be available throughout the break to guide you around campus. 

12:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.  Library and Technology Training, Straatmeyer Room, Heritage Center

Prior to departing for training sessions this afternoon, please plan to meet back in the Straatmeyer Room, Heritage Center to be broken into groups and taken to two different afternoon sessions. Mentors will guide student groups to their sessions. 

2:30 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. Wrap-up with Peer Mentors, Straatmeyer Room, Heritage Center

We’ll wrap up the day with the opportunity to ask any questions you have of the student Mentors before you depart for the day. 

3:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Optional Campus Tours, Admission Office, Charles and Romona Myers Center

If you haven’t had the opportunity to take a tour of campus, stop by the Admission Office and experience a tour with our Student Ambassadors who can show you around and answer any last questions about campus you may have. If you just want to see a building or two, our Mentors would be happy to guide you on an individual basis.
